Abstract When dealing with nonresponse in internet surveys, specifics are arising from the type of internet usage but also from the corresponding attitudes, ICT consumption patterns and general life-style of the potential respondents. The purpose of the paper is to identify the socio-demographic segments that have specific nonresponse behaviour as well as the corresponding personal determinants of the nonresponse behaviour.
The empirical data are based on a national (Slovenia) face-to-face survey with high response rate (80%, n=1,500), which was carried out in April 2005. The basic focus of the survey was the personal ICT usage (official Eurostat ICT module) and the life-styles. Respondents also reported about the various forms of survey and marketing solicitation, and about the propensity to participate in various survey modes, including the internet. They were also asked to provide email for the purpose of internet survey.
