Abstract

Internet serves nowadays not only market and social researchers but also jour­nalists as medium, means and method. Online research (empirical market and social research with or over Internet) links to the another discipline which is called online research or online reporting. That is the systematic journalistic search by means of or over Internet. Known also as CAR (Computer Assisted Research), it has considerable successes to show. In this panel the journalistic, legal and network-theoretical framework for on-line search is to be marked out.

Marcus Lindemann (free producer and owner of "Autorenwerk "in Berlin which produces for the large TV-stations) lights up quality questions of online research. Does it help to fulfill journalistic standards? He gives a plentiful of practical ex­amples of good online research and scoops.
