Many have questioned whether qualitative research methods were appropriate for the impersonal and non face-to-face online world where encounters take place courtesy of cyberspace technology. But by initially adapting the technology to established models of qualitative research and now taking advantage of the emerging social online environment, qualitative researchers are making rapid progress in harnessing the new environment at the same time as anticipating more radical challenges in the future. This session explores what's happening now and what may be coming soon.
