Abstract Število uporabnikov Interneta narašča eksponentno, s tem pa se tudi povečuje pomembnost tega novega "prostora".S tem se spreminjajo tako struktura kot tudi značilnosti uporabnikov, kar je zanimivo področje raziskovanja. Hkrati postaja anketiranje prek Interneta zanimivo tudi za druge raziskave. Nekatere raziskovalne dejavnosti, kot je npr. merjenje števila uporabnikov WWW strani, so v Internetu avtomatizirane, še vedno pa je za večino problemov potrebno anketiranje. Pri tem lahko uporabimo tudi storitve Interneta (elektronska pošta in WWW). Izkaže se, da ima ta način veliko prednosti pred klasičnimi načini anketiranja. Predvsem je veliko cenejši. Vprašanje pa je, ali so dobljeni razultati dovolj zanesljivi. Anketiranju prek Interneta je najbližje pisemsko anketriranje. Zato pri ugotavljanju problemov in analizi možnih rešitev izhajamo prav iz pisemskega anketiranja. Prek analiz že opravljenih raziskav uporabnikov Interneta se izkaže, da na zdajšnji stopnji razvoja Interneta raziskovanje prek Interneta za raziskovanje lastnosti uporabnikov ni najprimernejše. Kljub temu pa se izkaže kot poceni in metodološko gledano zanimiv vir podatkov.
