Abstract This contribution will detail some aspects of the OnSite-Survey (denominated as pillar II in the AGOF Project). Besides the quite large number of participating websites one unique feature of this survey is the sampling and recruiting procedure of many internet users across the participating sites and contolling reinvitations depending on the result of prior invitations. To realize this ambitious project random samples of so called idents are drawn from the population generated by the audience measurement system of the IVW and stored at a central location. Idents that are in the active sample will be invited to the survey by a recruiting ad adopted to the layout of the website they surf to and will thereafter be blocked from receiving further invitations. The blocking will be released for subsequent invitations subject to well defined rules based on a concurrent tracking of the results that prior survey invitations achieved (i.e. completed the survey, more than one user of the computer etc.). The operations necessary to achieve this (i.e. secure communication with the central sampling system of Spring GmbH) will be explained and spelled out in some detail. The focus is on the passing of parameters from the sample, the handling of reinvitations across all participating sites, the sitespecific layout of the questionnaire and the handling of automatically controlled followup surveys.
