Abstract This article is designed to describe to researchers the potential for conducting primary research online, and the factors which need to be considered when choosing this kind of research methodology. Ethical considerations, including the importance of data protection will be discussed, as well as technical and logistical requirements. Suggestions will also be made about how to proceed if you do decide to go ahead with an online piece of primary research.
