Organized by MMIRA
Where

Boston, Massachusetts

From 27.06.2014
To 29.06.2014
Description

These are exciting times for mixed methods research (MMR). To help connect people from across the world, the Mixed Methods International Research Association (MMIRA) was founded in 2013, and the first MMIRA conference will be held June 27-29th, 2014, in Boston, Massachusetts. The conference will focus on harnessing the heterogeneity and overlapping consensus that resides within and across MMR and all related and interested communities.
To emphasize the importance of sharing our research, our ideas, and the importance of learning from one another, the 2014 conference theme is “Coming at Things Differently.”  The conference will provide a venue to explore and expand the conversation about what mixed methods is, by listening intently to the wisdom in the diversity that potentially lies within the mixed methods research community.
Mixed methods research is vibrant and vital field that is growing within and across international and interdisciplinary communities of inquiry. Our reaching out across disciplinary divides will provide a way forward for a plurality of methodological approaches, philosophical perspectives, and a wide range of research methods to develop. We hope to produce knowledge that addresses and centers on a range of methodological problems and on social problems and crises faced by peoples across the globe.
We especially want to reach out to those newcomers and seasoned researchers new to the field of MMR and welcome them, learn from them, and we will provide, when needed, resources and mentoring opportunities about the current knowledge base of MMR.
The conference will consist of a range of venues for MMR scholars, students, and especially those new to our mixed methods community to engage in dialogue about these questions and issues and more.
