Description

The Association for Survey Computing is pleased to announce that it will be hosting its seventh International Conference on Survey and Statistical Computing at the University of Winchester on the 8th and 9th September 2016 and is now seeking proposals for contributed papers.

Our industry is in the midst of seismic shifts. Not only is the basic definition of “Survey Research” under scrutiny, but many of the traditional tools and techniques are under pressure to deliver better insights, more quickly and at lower cost. Some might say it has always been so. Yet there is a real sense that the pace of change now has increased, and we find ourselves dealing with ever increasing volumes of data and data that we are not so familiar with.

Potential topics

We seek papers that cover both the on-going evolution of our Industry, as well as the revolutionary changes we are beginning to see in new tools and techniques. Papers may cover topics that include, but are not limited to:

  • Sampling, Panels and the Respondent Experience; Survey Length
  • Mobile
  • Gamification
  • Communities and other Qualitative techniques
  • Big Data
  • Storytelling
  • Data Visualisation
  • Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning
  • Data Protection, Security and Privacy
  • Text processing and analytics, coding and automated classification
  • Social Media Monitoring, Measurement and Analytics
  • Behavioural Economics
  • Machine generated data and the Internet of Things

Although the main emphasis of the conference is on technology and techniques the topics covered will appeal to everyone with an interest in survey design, data collection, analysis, reporting or statistical computing.
The conference structure will consist of papers presented to both plenary and parallel sessions, as well as poster sessions.

All papers will be published in a set of proceedings to be distributed electronically to all delegates.

Making your submission

Proposals for contributed papers should be in the format specified here and contain a summary between 250 and 500 words in length, and sent by e-mail to Christine Jenkins, ASC Administrator admin@asc.org.uk to arrive no later than Monday 29 February, 2016.

We recommend that those interested in submitting a proposal also read our guidance on preparing a written paper.

A reduced delegate fee will apply to the first (or only) presenter of each paper.
