Title Measurement levels (Release date: January 15th, 2017)
Author(s) Vehovar, V.
Abstract

Measurement is commonly recognized as the process of assigning labels to the units of analysis – typically data is represented by numeric values - to the object or other phenomena. This then enables us to further classify and process the values much more effectively. Assigned labels can be of different levels – nominal, ordinal, interval and ratio - and in the parts of this book, we will be presenting a systematic introduction to these levels, together with corresponding examples and illustrations.
