I’m a postdoctoral fellow at New York University School of Law’s Information Law Institute, NYU’s Department of Media, Culture, and Communication, and the Data and Society Research Institute. I research how law and technology interact to regulate behavior, with emphasis on legal, organizational, and social aspects of surveillance and monitoring.

I have a PhD in Sociology from Princeton University, where my dissertation work examined the use of public and private surveillance for rule enforcement in the United States trucking industry. I have a JD from Indiana University’s Maurer School of Law.

I’m affiliated with NYU Law’s Privacy Research Group and the Intel Science and Technology Center for Social Computing. Prior to my graduate work, I was a law clerk in the U.S. Federal Courts.
