Many providers of web survey tools also provide their users additional material (how-to-do’s, white papers, blog entries, FAQ’s) that helps them understand the concept of developing an effective survey capable of collecting quality data. Within this study we provide an overview of methodological recommendations. The overview is based on a list of 44 more or less popular web survey tools where recommendations were found.  Recommendations and tools were categorized in three different ways. Firstly we categorized web survey tools by the type of recommendations they cover in their documentation. Then we categorized recommendations by type (similarity). At the end we categorized recommendation by software in which we located them.
