The roundtable: The use of new information and communication technologies (NICTs) in methodology

Aug 15 2006

The roundtable "The use of new information and communication technologies (NICTs) in methodology: promises and perils?" was a part of the ECPR Summer School in Methods and Techniques 2006 in Ljubljana, Slovenia. It focused on two key problems. On the one hand, what is the current state-of-art role of NICTs social science data collection, in the process of obtaining quantitative or qualitative data, and what are the emerging trends? On the other hand, do we at universities have enough knowledge and experience to properly incorporate NICTs into corresponding research and teaching? Are our researchers and students competent enough?

It was moderated by prof. Bernard Kittel, speakers were Katja Lozar Manfreda, Vasja Vehovar, Professor of Statistics, Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Ljubljana, and Bojana Lobe who is currently finishing her PhD in Social sciences methodology at University of Ljubljana.
