EUI Workshop on Online Research Methods - Registration

Apr 02 2010

Dear all,

First of all, I would like to apologize for taking over a month to follow up on this. I wanted to wait a bit until the smoke cleared on certain issues (like funding, lecturers, etc.) before contacting you all again.

In terms of practical information, I can tell you that the workshop will definitely be held on 10-11 May (in Florence). It will consist of 4 main blocks: a general introductory block, one on online social networks, one on virtual ethnography, and one on online interviewing and survey design. For the networks part, we 'll have Stuart Schulman (UMassAmherst), for interviewing/surveys we 'll have Tristram Hooley (University of Derby), and for the virtual ethnography part most likely Smiljana Antonijevic (Virtual Knowledge Studio, Amsterdam/Maastricht). A short abstract of the program

The group of workshop participants will consist of 20-25 PhD students, postdocs, lecturers, and professors. Participants are required to bring their own laptops (and have to pre-install specific software).

Unfortunately, we will only have room to invite 5 external researchers. Since demand (interest) is larger than supply (places) here, we will have to maintain a waiting list. Some of you have already registered through https://spreadsheets.google.com/viewform, and that form is still open until next Wednesday (31 March) if you would like to register. Invitations will subsequently be sent out on a first-come-first-served basis and when there are (internal or external) cancellations I will immediately invite the next person on the list.

If you have any questions, don 't hesitate to contact me. Hope to hear from you all soon!
